Reality Church
Brand Identity System / Brand styleguide / Web Design
A church in Los Angeles seeking the renewal of their city.

SITUATION
Reality Church of Los Angeles, over the years, has seen its vision expand, leadership change, and approach mature. The church found itself serving a growing and evolving demographic, managing a new building, and running operations with a small staff. This rapid evolution and expansion led to a fragmented brand and outdated messaging.
PROBLEM
With increasing demands and changes, the church lacked the adequate tools and framework to effectively communicate its refreshed vision. The existing communication strategies did not reflect the church’s current state and its matured approach towards its demographic. Moreover, Reality LA had a unique stance on branding. As an “anti-brand” organization, they wanted their branding to focus on their tagline “Jesus Changes Everything”, rather than on Reality LA itself.
SOLUTION
Our team provided a series of brand workshops to identify areas of brand fragmentation and outdated messaging. These sessions paved the way for a new, comprehensive brand identity system, brand architecture, and website that could effectively communicate Reality’s new vision and approach. We ensured the brand played in the background, letting their tagline shine.
We also focused on translating this new visual language into Reality LA’s online experience, and creating design templates for physical elements like signage, stationery, and screen presentations. Furthermore, we built a unique identity for the Reality LA Kids program, inviting children to explore faith, play games, and support their local community.

Odd Notion immediately impressed us with their expertise. They made the process easy and enjoyable—explaining their approach and providing guidance through every step of the process. As an organization that has a lot of stakeholders, they were able to navigate our various values and unify them into a cohesive direction and purpose, providing an end product we were proud to have represent us and clearly communicate our identity. Their abilities to foresee real-life usage of the brand, develop creative approaches, and push artistic boundaries are invaluable!
